Frequently asked questions

Why Is My Transmission Overheating?

There are several potential reasons why your transmission is overheating. Firstly, since heavy-duty transmissions have dedicated transmission coolers, it stands to reason that said cooler should be the first suspect. So what causes a cooler to fail? Transmission fluid that’s leaking from the cooler or its lines poses an issue, for low fluid means not enough radiant heat will be absorbed. Another common reason for an overheating transmission is old transmission fluid. Over time, the fluid in your transmission that’s responsible for absorbing radiant heat will break down. Broken-down fluid is unable to absorb heat and unable to lubricate metal components.

Why Shouldn’t I Ignore EGR And DPF Issues?

Ignoring EGR and DPF issues can have catastrophic consequences. If you notice a check engine light or a Malfunctioning Indicator Lamp (MIL), be sure to bring your truck in for service right away. Aftertreatment issues that are left to fester and get worse will likely end up costing you thousands of dollars more than you would have originally paid.

How Do Locking Differentials Work?

A locking differential is a set of gearing that’s designed to force 50% of your truck’s available torque to each wheel. This allows for exemplary offroad prowess and performance and is primarily found on logging trucks, construction vehicles, and recovery trucks. Since these trucks still need to drive on the road, locking differentials are usually selectable, meaning you can disable and enable this locking functionality. When unlocked, the differential will function the same as an open differential.

Why Are Exhaust Leaks Dangerous?

Your exhaust system has a complex series of tubes that are designed to transport emissions through your after-treatment components and then away from your passenger compartment. Exhaust leaks allow emissions to leave your truck before being treated and potentially even before moving away from your passenger compartment. This increases the chances of you and your passengers inhaling harmful carcinogens, as well as increases the impact your engine has on our natural environment. Exhaust leaks are generally identifiable by a check engine light, malfunctioning indicator lamp, and loud engine noise upon startup.

How Do I Prevent Unexpected Breakdowns?

Preventing unexpected breakdowns is doable through effective preventive maintenance. Our preventive maintenance services are designed to detect small issues and prevent them from becoming major. We’ll inspect your truck, change your fluids and filters, and even protect your frame from rust.
